Chord Electronics Red Standard and Red Reference (Sound & Vision - The Bristol Show 2008)
Nathan Oakley, International Sales Manager, gives us the background of the company founded by John Franks. Chord uses "high frequency" power supply technology which was originally developed for use in aerospace, telecommunications and data processing that work at 87 kHz. In the RED Standard CD player uses DAC64 technology where the digital signal is converted from 44.1KHz to analogue audio using 1024 tap filtering where the fully featured RED Reference works at over 4000 taps. Each machine is custom made, but only listening is believing the sound quality reproduction.
